      The Silk Weaver’s Tale

      October 29th, 2007

There once was a little one who lived in a home without a single window or door. It was a sad and dreary place. From morning to night she was told to spin a beautiful silken cloth.

Always somewhere in the back of her mind, there was a fantasy. She dreamed of a paradise she’d never been to before. It was a lovely place filled with bright colors, delicious smells and wonderful lively sounds. When she imagined being there, she was filled with hope and joy!

But, then, she would remember her reality and punish herself with feelings of guilt and shame for wasting precious spinning time on the insignificant little dream. She would get angry with herself and ask, “Who do you think you are? I’ll tell you who you are! You’re nothing but a humble spinner of silk! That is all you are now and all you ever will be!” After her tirade, she would continue her demanding work until she would fall into an exhausted slumber.

Nothing every changed in her small little world. She just worked and slept in her dark and lonely place.

She never had been comfortable in her dungeon, but lately she had begun to notice the more silk she spun, the smaller her gloomy little home became. She wanted to quit, walk out, but she was too afraid, so she continued doing the only thing she knew how to do. She spun silk.

One day, while she was hard at work, she heard a horrible ripping and tearing sound. It seemed her world was being torn apart! She feared this must be the punishment for wasting so much time on those foolish little daydreams. She supposed, “This is what happens to silk spinners who neglect their responsibilities in life!”

The hole in her tiny home became larger and larger until finally she fell right out! “Ouch!” she cried. Then she wondered, “What is that blinding brilliant light?”

Suddenly, she felt something she’d never felt before. It was a soft and balmy breeze. The moisture on her body began to evaporate. Her eyes began to see everything she had created in her imagination. The smells, the sounds, all of it was here! “How could I have known? It’s all real” she exclaimed! Next, the most remarkable event occurred. As she released all her fears and doubts, the gentle wind took her up and up and up. In that moment, she began to move her mighty powerful butterfly wings and happily fly away!

The Secret to Finding Your Missing Good Stuff

      September 29th, 2007

Do things, like your keys, sometimes seem to disappear? You look everywhere and can’t find them? List past summer, my friend Janet and I were teaching a first time class for children, called Imagination Camp. It was our intention to teach animal kindness and communication to children. I was very nervous the first day and not feeling wonderfully imaginative. I could almost feel the fairies asking me to lighten up, but of course, in the heat of the moment, I was too shook up to listen. Janet and I were frantically searching everywhere for paper plates to do an art project for the kids. Not being able to find them, and in frustration, we finally gave up. My sweet mother, who can always find anything, (she must have a deal with the fairies) walked right up to them and holding the plates in her hands, asked if these were the ones we were looking for! Janet and I were shocked! We both agreed we had looked in the very same spot, but they weren’t there.

This gave me an idea. I became the watcher, waiting for this to happen again. It did, the very same week. My sister and I were sharing a can soda. One of us set it down and we couldn’t find it anywhere. This time, I remembered being reactive and stressed about finding things didn’t work very well, so I decided to smile and tease the fairies about hiding it on us. I could almost hear them giggle at the game we were playing together. My sister, not aware of my little experiment, continued to be aggravated because the can of soda was missing. With this new playful attitude, I was able to find it very quickly. Then, the strangest thing happened. I called my frustrated thirsty sister into the room where the soda was sitting right out in the open and asked if she could see it. Surprisingly, she couldn’t until I nearly touched it!

So, what does this all mean? I don’t know for sure, but here are some of my best guesses. First of all, I’m thinking the physical world is not as solid or dense as we might think it is. By that I mean, different or perhaps all dimensions co-exist in this one. I think our perspective or level of vibration affects how we see and experience the world. For example, if we are angry or fearful, we slow down our vibration and literally hold back the good we’re trying to attract. What if the universe is waiting to pour out our good stuff into a matching container? Wow, wouldn’t that be easy? Remember the sayings, “Fake it until you make it; Build it and they will come; Act as if it’s already come true?” So, if we become a vibrating matching container for our creation does that mean we become our creation? Is it possible for the creator to become the created? Perhaps, if you believe all life is one life and we’re all connected! Then, I guess it must happen all the time! Well, that is until you, the creator, decide to create something new and different! Then, I guess you become a vibrating, matching container for …..
