Trisha’s Journey Home
February 13th, 2010Sandra,
I will try to listen and call in on Sunday. Here is something else that just occurred to me last night. In 1984, I think, that was the year my grandfather passed. We called him Pop Pop. Pop Pop had a major heart attack while driving his car. He lived with his cat Sammy. My parents were out of town and had to hurry home. My mother did not go to Pop Pop’s house until the next morning. When she arrived she found that Sammy had also passed away. She has always wondered what happened to Sammy. Did he die of fright? Did he just know to go to Pop Pop? Did Pop Pop come and take him along? We have no pictures of Sammy. He was an older yellow-orange tabby.

Dear Lee,
I do believe that we live on this earth with those who are in our Soul Group! This Soul Group loves us dearly and may come to us through people and animals, too. Have you ever noticed how when an elderly person passes away, sometimes his or her human companion/mate will pass shortly after this happens? I’ve seen this often with people and their animal companions, too. The following is the story about our sweet cat, Trisha and her journey to her forever home with Mary.
Trisha’s Journey Home
We were three young sisters, living together on our own trying to pretend we were all grown up! One day, as sister/roommates Bonnie, Coleen and I decided to go check out the local Animal Shelter. We were quite comfortable with dogs because we’d been around them a lot growing up, but we knew very little about cats. None of dogs there that day seemed like a fit for us, so Bonnie suggested we look in the cat room. We didn’t think much would come of it, but thought it would be alright just to check it out.
In the cat room at the Shelter, many cats were meowing and moving around in the cages. However, one beautiful black and white cat was doing the most unique behavior, trying to get our attention. We were quite surprised by her intelligence and inviting gentle personality. We had no intention of bringing a cat home with us, but Trisha as we came to call her, had every intention of coming home with us.
She did not disappoint. She was funny, entertaining and very loving. Often she would ‘fly’ at top speed into the room, run up the wall, land on her feet and look both ways as if someone was chasing her because she was a spy. (The house we were renting may very well have been haunted!) We didn’t know how to treat a cat, so we used aluminum foil to make balls which she would fetch and return to us so we would throw them again.
We loved her dearly, so it broke our hearts when we decided as sisters we would move to California and leave Trisha behind. Our kind cousins, Joan and Mike Hansen invited us to stay with them while we were getting settled in the San Diego area. We knew it wasn’t possible to bring Trisha with us, so we started looking for a new home for her.
Bonnie found a woman named Mary who was willing to adopt Trisha. She’d had a hard life as truck-stop waitress and also been married to an abusive husband. She was very kind to others, but confided to Bonnie that she had never felt really loved by anyone until Trisha came into her life. Often Mary wrote to us in California about Trisha’s funny and endearing new behaviors. It was clear that this was a love match made in heaven. Trisha was so loved that she became a huge even happier cat with Mary. Finally, after many years, Mary died. After waiting her whole life to be loved, in her golden years of retirement a sweet cat came to fill her days with joy. Three days later after her death, Trisha went to be with Mary.
I believe Trisha and Mary were from the same Soul Group. That day, when we went into the Cat Room at the Shelter, Trisha knew she was supposed to go home with us because we were to be the way she was to find Mary! When I look back, I believe we were guided to go into that room.
Sometimes, we are called to keep an animal with us in our home, but other times, we are a bridge to bring two souls together. Follow your intuition when it comes to helping an animal find a home. As souls, we all, including animals choose to be in our physical bodies for a reason. Keep your heart open and you can also be instrumental in connecting two Soul Mates together!
Blessings,
Sandra
