Celebrate the Colors of the Wild © is the very first wild life image I painted. As I was painting, I was excited to see it evolve into the scene I had in my mind's eye. The San Diego Zoo had an art contest and the theme was Celebrate the Colors of the Wild. I chose to include both the botanical and zoological elements in the same painting. The red Cana flowers provide a beautiful contrast to the stripes on the zebra. There is certain abstract quality to this painting. You may first see the colors and patterns, and then realize it's a zebra. The painting won an award for best interpretation of the theme. It was included in their gallery, and it sold. I'm so glad to have this poster to remind me of the joy I experienced visiting the zoo, and capturing the beauty of its inhabitants. We are blessed to have such beauty in our Universe.
